ECMI Kosovo has started off a new project. The project supports Kosovo’s Ministry for Community and Return (MCR) in developing a new strategy.
The development of an MCR 2014-2018 Strategy for Communities and Returns is in process, and European Centre for Minority Issues Kosovo is assisting the MCR via a new project, says ECMI Kosovo’s July Newsletter.
Through July, ECMI Kosovo held a number of preparatory interviews with local and international stakeholders involved in the return process. The interviews will feed into an assessment of the current 2009-2013 strategy. The assessment is one of the two elements of the ECMI Kosovo project:
– A coordinator is engaged to directly support the MCR
– An assessment is conducted of the current 2009-2013 strategy of the ministry
Facts: The Ministry, the Strategy, and the Working Group
The MCR coordinates the voluntary return of refugees and internally displaced persons to Kosovo, while the Strategy for Communities and Returns defines the vision and objectives of the government of Kosovo in relation to the return process.
A Working Group for Drafting the Strategy of the MCR was established in February. The Working Group is in charge of developing the new MCR 2014-2018 Strategy for Communities and Returns that “will have relevant and updated objectives, goals and recommendations”, according to ECMI Kosovo’s March 2013 newsletter.
