ECMI Director Prof Malloy is in Toronto/ Canada today to attend the Sixth Annual Conference of the International Association of Language Commissioners (IALC ).
The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LANGUAGE COMMISSIONERS assists the language commissioner’s role throughout the world by promoting best practices and standards of excellence and by advancing language equality and diversity.
This year`s title: Protecting Linguistic Minorities, Building Stronger Societies: The Language Commissioner Model of Human Rights Protection.
In the frames of the panel “Setting European Standards for Minority Language Protection: Successes, Challenges, and Best Practices”, Prof. Malloy will elaborate on the protection of languages and language rights in Europe and speak about good practices and policy challenges in that context.
In her presentation, Prof. Malloy will outline that language rights promote peace and highlight the reasonable balance between state language and minority language learning.
