On Monday, September 22, representatives of the German and Danish minorities, the Frisians and the Roma-Sinti ethnic group met along with minority issue institutions and organizations in Kompagnietor in Flensburg and discussed for two hours current issues of the German-Danish border region. The leader of this round was Renate Schnack, the Schleswig-Holstein Commissioner of the Minister-President for Minority Affairs.
The network Dialogue Forum North offers the parties the possibility to exchange views and to bring together common interests in order to achieve common goals through cooperation in questions regarding minority issues and policy. Minorities everywhere in Europe require special protection and support in safeguarding their rights. The DialogueForumNorden can thus act as a kind of mouthpiece and, when necessary, call special attention to grievances or problems. It is important that the independence of the individual organizations and institutions is maintained.
The Forum is affiliated to the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag .
