A nine-day Cornish Festival will be organized between 25th of February and 5th of March in Penzance, Cornwall (UK). The festival will celebrate the Cornish language, culture and heritage and will include various academic and entertainment events at the Acorn in Penzance. Prof. Dr. Tove Malloy has been invited to deliver a keynote lecture at the conference taking place as part of the festival on 25th of February. Named as “the highlight of the event” by Business Cornwall, Prof. Malloy will talk about the Framework Convention, the European Charter and the Cornish Language.
The aim of the festival is to promote the Cornish language, culture and heritage not only among those who are fluent in Cornish, but also among people wanting to find out about Cornwall and the history of Cornish. Festival organizer Jane Howells was recently quoted in Business Cornwall: “The festival will bring people together for an inspirational nine days connecting residents with the Cornish language, celebrating Cornish culture and exploring the heritage of Penzance through the medium of the Cornish language.”
