Report online: Economic perspectives for Kosovo’s minority communities

ECMI PublicationsECMI Kosovo has published a report on perspectives for local economic development in five of Kosovo’s newly established Serb dominated municipalities.

The report, Perspectives on Local Economic Development in Kosovo’s Decentralised Municipalities, contains policy recommendations for the municipalities of Gračanica/Graçanicë, Klokot/Kllokot, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë, Parteš-Pasjane/Partesh-Pasjan, and Ranilug/Ranillug.

The object of the report is to help improve the business environment for small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) and further to stimulate local investments and growth in the minority communities.

The main findings of the report have already been presented to the mayors and/or deputy mayors of the municipalities individually. ECMI Kosovo is going to support the municipalities in implementing the recommendations.

The recommendations cover the following aspects:

- local legal framework;
- institutional organization;
- information collection and dissemination;
- relations with the business community.

The reporting activity is part of the project Support to Minority Communities during and after the Decentralisation Process. It is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
