Jørgen Kühl new Chairman of the ECMI Executive Board

Jørgen Kühl will succeed Knud Larsen as Chairman of the European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) in Flensburg. The change will take place on 1 January 2013.

The Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education appoints the Chairman of ECMI. This time the Ministry has appointed Dr. Jørgen Kühl, principal of the A.P. Møller School in Schleswig. Jørgen Kühl takes over from Dr. Knud Larsen who has held the position since 2006.

Jørgen Kühl is well-known in the context of national minorities. Kühl has a background as researcher and teacher in minority issues. Among others he has occupied positions as Director of the Danevirke Museum, Head of Institute at the University of Southern Denmark and Director of the Institute of Border Region Studies. Kühl is now the principal of the A. P. Møller School which is one of two Danish high schools in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany). Kühl’s scientific production includes more than 50 books and publications and several hundred articles and chapters.

At the European level, Jørgen Kühl has been a member of and advised in a wide range of committees, councils and political and scientific contexts. Kühl’s expertise covers cross border cooperation and minority relations.
