ECMI Caucasus has concluded a memorandum of understanding with the International School for Caucasus Studies. The memorandum paves the way for North Caucasian master students to become interns at ECMI.
Two North Caucasian master students have already commenced their internships at ECMI Caucasus in Tbilisi. One Chechen and one Ingush became the first to make use of the option. The internship option has been opened since ECMI Caucasus and the International School for Caucasus Studies signed a memorandum in late October 2012.
The current two interns at ECMI Caucasus are working on identity issues of cross border minorities. Particularly, they are studying the Kists and Chechens in Georgia and Chechnya.
The International School for Caucasus Studies works under the auspices of the Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. The relevant students from the North Caucasian republics of the Russian Federation are enrolled in the master programme of the school. This is the first time that North Caucasian students are participating in this programme.
The contact person of ECMI Caucasus’ internship programme is Giorgi Sordia.
